Research

The research activities are focused in the following sub-areas of polymer science:

  • Functional block copolymer nanocarriers for controlled delivery of hydrophobic bioactive substances and biomolecules;

  • Super-macroporous polymer cryogels from natural, thermo- and pH-sensitive polymers for topical anti-cancer therapy and tissue engineering;

  • Conjugated polymers and active polymer films for organic solar cells;

  • Polymer-inorganic hybrid nanoparticles and nanocomposites.

Current Projects

  • Preparation of novel polymeric nanocarriers for immobilization and controlled delivery of the proteolytic enzyme serratiopeptidase (КП-06-М69/3 -2022,Bulgarian National Science Fund)

  • Design and characterization of conventional and modified niosomes and hybrid stimuli-sensitive in situ gel-forming drug formulations on their basis for therapeutic delivery development (КP-06-H43/3 – 2020, Bulgarian National Science Fund)

  • Synthesis of biocompatible cryogels via photochemical crosslinking (2019, budgetary subsidy)
